With Spring just sliding in to place, and blossoms not yet coaxed out of their little cocoons, Angela & Sam’s love provided more than enough warmth & light for their early September wedding. Family & friends gathered under a soft grey sky at the always stylish Gracehill Vineyard Estate in Kumeu. I actually really loved the overtones of winter in this setting, a moody & more sultry Gracehill. The clouds stayed closed for business, not daring to gift even one drop of rain as Sam & Angela shared words of love and became Mr & Mrs K!
But not so for our creative session amongst the orange and olive trees… As soon as we arrived the sky couldn’t hold its excitement any longer and it poured! In my head I had imagined soft late afternoon light filtering through the trees… ha, presumptuous I know. But dodging the heavier rain, and playing in the light rain, gave us a softness that was undeniably romantic. What good sports Ange, Sam & their Bridal Party were for making beautiful images and getting a little drenched in the process. And a special thanks to Asher, my trusty assistant, for shadowing me with an umbrella, I don’t think we’ve tripped over each other quite so much… photographers move randomly! I LOVED journeying along on this great day… and as always, what a privilege it is to gather the joy for Sam & Ange to treasure.
